Three standard cylinder families

Welded Cylinders

  • Bores 2" to 8", working pressure to 3,500 psi
  • Welded end-cap construction - compact OEM fits
  • Hard chrome-plated 45 HRC rod with polished finish
  • Cushioning options on both ends
  • Cross-tube, clevis, trunnion and custom mounts

Where they shine: skid steers, wheel loaders, refuse trucks, mobile equipment where package size matters more than field rebuildability.

Tie-Rod Cylinders

  • Bores 1.5" to 12", working pressure to 5,000 psi
  • Field-rebuildable for long service life
  • NFPA JIC, ISO 6020/2 and ISO 6022 mounting standards
  • Standard and custom seal packages
  • Variable port orientation (SAE-6, 8, 12, 16)

Where they shine: hydraulic presses, machine tools, stationary equipment, industrial automation cells - anywhere the cylinder will live long enough to be rebuilt.

Telescopic Cylinders

  • Up to 5 stages, single or double acting
  • Strokes to 240"
  • Hard chrome, nitridation, thermal spray, or other wear‑resistant surface treatments.
  • Top-mount, cross-tube and custom trunnion mounts
  • Available with or without air-bleed kit

Where they shine: dump trucks, refuse vehicles, tippers, dump trailers - applications where you need a long stroke in a compact retracted length.

The Overland difference

What fleet managers and equipment dealers keep telling us they care about - and what we've built the standard cylinder program around.

01
Same-day shipping

Orders placed before 12:00 noon CST ship the same business day from our Bridgeton, MO warehouse. Keeps your machine earning rather than sitting.

02
Organized part numbering

A logical, mnemonic part number encodes type, bore, rod, stroke and mounting. Quote accurately the first time. Catalogs and worksheets available on request.

03
Over-engineered for durability

Thicker wall barrels, hardened chrome rods, premium seals and bronze-lined rod glands. Built to outlast the equipment it goes on.

04
Vertical supply chain

In-house CNC machining, welding, assembly and QC. No hand-off to an external shop means fewer delays and a tighter quality loop when you need a custom run.

Drop-in replacements across major OEM brands

OEL standard cylinders are built as direct-fit replacements for the major skid-steer, compact-loader and mobile- equipment OEMs. Same mounting pin diameter, same retracted and extended lengths, same port size and orientation as the OEM part - so they bolt on without re-fabrication.

Brands we replace
  • Bobcat (skid steers, track loaders, compact excavators)
  • Case & Case CE (skid steers, loaders, backhoes)
  • Caterpillar (skid steer and track loaders, CTL / MTL)
  • Kubota (skid steers, track loaders, backhoes)
  • New Holland (compact loaders, skid steers)
  • JCB (skid steers, telehandlers, backhoes)
  • Takeuchi (track loaders, compact excavators)
  • John Deere (compact loaders, backhoes)
  • Gehl, ASV, Mustang and other legacy OEMs

Not sure which cylinder fits your machine? Send us the OEM part number, the equipment model and year, or a photo of the stamping plate. We'll ID the right cylinder from stock.

Beyond the catalog

Yes - we customize.

The standard line covers the cylinders people order every day. The custom line covers everything else. And "custom" here means real engineering collaboration, not just a bigger bore.

What we routinely customize
  • Non-standard bore / rod / stroke combinations
  • Unusual mounting configurations (trunnion offsets, compound angles)
  • High-temperature, cryogenic or chemical service seal packages
  • Integrated electronic position sensing
  • Built-in counterbalance, check or relief valving
  • Stainless steel or Nickel-plated construction for marine / offshore
  • OEM-specific branding, part numbering and bar coding
How to engage

Send us a cylinder drawing, a hand sketch on a napkin, a cracked original sample - any of those work. Our in-house engineering team returns a manufacturable spec plus a proforma quote, typically within 2 business days.

Seal kits and spare parts

Every cylinder in the catalog has a matching seal kit held in stock, plus the common wear parts - wear bands, rod wipers, glands, pistons and tie rods.

Standard seal kits
  • Buna-N / NBR 70 - general service, oil temp to 80 °C
  • Polyurethane rod seals standard on all kits
  • Bonded-washer static seals
  • Metal scraper + polyurethane wiper
Specialty seal kits
  • Viton (FKM) - high-temperature and synthetic-oil service
  • HNBR - biofuel, ester-based hydraulic fluid
  • EPDM - phosphate-ester fire-resistant fluid
  • Low-friction PTFE glide rings on high-cycle service
Wear parts
  • Bronze-lined rod glands (field-replaceable)
  • Wear bands / bearing strips
  • Piston nuts and piston assemblies
  • Tie rods with calibrated preload nuts
  • Cross-tube bushings and mounting pins

Pro tip: order the seal kit with the cylinder and keep it on the shelf next to the machine - most hydraulic repairs fail from a missing seal, not a cracked barrel.

Frequently asked

Three easy paths. One, send us the OEM part number from the failed cylinder's stamping plate. Two, send the equipment make, model and year. Three, send basic dimensions (bore, rod, stroke, retracted length, mounting type). We'll ID the matching OEL part number from stock or quote a short-run if it's not a standard size.

12 months or 2,000 operating hours, whichever comes first, against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. Normal wear items (seals, wipers, wear bands) are not covered - but replacement seal kits are in stock and ship same-day. Warranty claim process: email support@overlandind.com with the OEL part number, lot / serial, and a photo of the failure.

Yes. The standard catalog defines the most common combinations, but rod ends, clevis or trunnion mounts, port orientation, and seal package are all configurable. Simple customizations pull from stocked sub-components and ship within a few days. Deeper customization (non- standard bore, stroke, special alloys) is a short-run build quoted at order time.

Standard variants (different mounting, different port orientation): 1 - 2 weeks. Non-standard bore / stroke short runs: 3 - 6 weeks depending on material and seal availability. Heavy-duty or large-format custom (12" bore, non-standard alloy, integral electronics): 6 - 10 weeks. Volume programs are quoted on their own schedule.

Yes. Every OEL cylinder has a matching seal kit held in US stock. Common wear parts (wear bands, rod wipers, glands, pistons, tie rods, mounting pins, cross-tube bushings) are also stocked. Specify the OEL cylinder part number in your order and we pull the correct kit.

Cylinders are manufactured in our overseas hubs (primarily Vietnam), held in US finished-goods stock at our Bridgeton, Missouri warehouse, and shipped same-day from Missouri to your door.
