Frequently asked

Three options depending on your priorities. Magnetostrictive (OEL-MS) is the premium answer - absolute, non-contact, long life, 5 µm resolution, installed inside the cylinder bore. Draw wire (OEL-DW) clamps to the outside of the machine without touching the cylinder - cheaper, still reliable, but subject to wire wear on very high-cycle applications. Rotary encoder (OEL-RE) attached to the piston rod via a rack / pinion is a third path for short-stroke applications.

Yes - we have ATEX and IECEx certified variants in both the magnetostrictive line (OEL-MS-GD, OEL-MS-MH) and the pressure transmitter line. Zone 1 and Zone 2 rated. Specify the hazardous-area classification of your application (gas, dust, equipment category) in the RFQ and we will quote the matching SKU.

Absolute encoders report a unique position code at every angle - they know where they are the moment they power up, no homing required. Ideal for axes that can move during power-down (hoists, cranes, slew rings). Incremental encoders only report changes from a reference zero; you have to re-home the axis after every power cycle. Ideal for continuous rotation axes (drive shafts, spindles, conveyor belts) where absolute position is not needed.

Yes - one of our most common programs. A typical AGV bundle pairs two OEL-C2 compact LiDAR (front and rear bumpers) plus one OEL-S1 safety scanner for certified personnel protection, two rotary encoders on the drive motors, one draw wire on the lift, plus hydraulic pressure transmitters where applicable. Spec once, quote as a package, ship matched.

Yes. Non-standard stroke lengths on magnetostrictive and draw wire sensors, non-standard pressure ranges on transmitters, and custom connector and cable options are routine. Typical custom lead time 4 - 6 weeks. Volume programs are quoted on their own schedule.

Yes, for serious TBM work. Generic hydraulic pressure transmitters fail in months under the abrasion, chemistry and shock of TBM service. OEL-PT-PNJ (mud), OEL-PT-PT (soil) and OEL-PT-PSY01 (ceramic membrane) are purpose-built for those media - longer life, more reliable, and cheaper in the long run than replacing generic transmitters every rebuild cycle.

Standard catalog LiDAR and sensor SKUs typically ship in 3 - 4 weeks. Custom stroke lengths on magnetostrictive / draw wire sensors and custom pressure ranges run 4 - 6 weeks. Large volume programs quoted on program schedule. Urgent small- quantity pulls from US stock (Bridgeton, MO) ship same day on available SKUs.
